WINTERSTEIGER Invests in High-Tech and the Environment, with 15 Million Euros Allocated to Innovation and Responsibility

Press Release from WINTERSTEIGER

WINTERSTEIGER is investing in the expansion of its Ried site with a clear vision for the future. From intelligent construction projects to high-tech production facilities and renewable energies, the machine manufacturer is combining technological excellence with ecological responsibility.

With investment totaling 15 million euros, WINTERSTEIGER is making an impressive commitment to the further development of its site in Ried and is focusing on a sustainable and modern approach. Since 2020, the company has implemented extensive measures not only to bring the site up to date from a technological perspective, but also to establish it as ecologically pioneering. Through this investment, WINTERSTEIGER is demonstrating its readiness for the future and offering its employees long-term prospects in an innovative environment.

"Our aim is to develop the site in an intelligent and sustainable way, without having to expand our physical footprint," explains Benjamin Hochholzer, Head of Facility & Service. With this approach, WINTERSTEIGER is implementing a vertical construction method for the new warehouse extension: above an existing production hall, a modern automated small parts warehouse is being built over 800 m², which – at 16 meters high – not only creates space for up to 50,000 different parts, but also avoids having to concrete over additional land. "Thanks to this smart planning we don't need any additional space and we also increase our efficiency," explains Hochholzer. The sum invested in this project amounts to 4.5 million euros, with completion expected as early as 2025.

The latest highlight is already up and running – a state-of-the-art machining center for the production of workpieces that went into operation in the summer. 1.5 million euros were invested in the new technology, which enables the precise and efficient machining of components weighing up to 3 tons. Thanks to the newly installed glass facade, passers-by and visitors can now see first-hand how ultra-modern technology is employed at WINTERSTEIGER; a perfect blend of transparency and innovation.

"Our site remains at the heart of our international strategy, above all thanks to our dedicated and qualified employees," enthuses CEO Harold Kostka. "Their passion and expertise drive us forward, and are why we continue to invest in the site and its people – in order to safeguard our competitiveness and actively shape the coming years."

WINTERSTEIGER deliberately focuses on sustainability: with the installation of photovoltaic systems with an output of 500 kWp and 20 e-charging stations for its growing fleet of electric cars, the company is underlining the fact that renewable energies and carbon neutral mobility have long been part of its corporate strategy. "We are actively shaping the future – not only through technological innovations, but also through our responsibility towards the environment and society," says Kostka.
